DEATH WAYS

03/02/2013
Afternoon
230PM

I was with sri Srinivas garu and Suresh Garu. After completing lunch we are headed towards an important work. Srinivas garu is backing up  his swift with proper signalling. As we are slowly turning towards  the road we noticed a car(Indica)  approaching us  with a great speed. There was a bus adjacent to it. It overtook the bus and headed towards us. Despite horn and signalling he neither reduced speed nor changed direction. In the last minute he took a curvaceous turn and dashed of across us. With a sigh of relief we started of towards our destination.

Looking back i can only thank our gods for nothing being happened there.

Right at this point three people close to me are going through their tough times.
*My aunt was crossing the road at R&B junction and a car struck her resulting in serious pelvis injury . She is battling with life in the NRI hospital vizag since jan 21 and gods know when her painful ordeal ends and she will start living her "new changed life"
*My cousin   brother was hit by a motor cycle while he was standing on the road which resulted in two fractures near the shoulder
*My best friends father was roughly pulled over with the bus while he was boarding the bus (the driver failed to notice) which resulted in a serious leg injury. His leg was removed.
AND YESTERDAY HE LOST HIS BATTLE AT 400PM AND FINALLY SUCCUMBED TO DEATH.

I need not tell the people who read this blog about the conditions of our  roads. I also need not clarify about the haphazard movement of people and vehicles on roads. Even i need not tell about any thing about the way we manage our functions on roads..What i want to convey today is what happen to a family after an unexpected mishap they never foresee.

yes..this is my hand .
i met with a major accident in April 2010. An auto driver's recklessness changed my life forever. Two operations  and a lot of prayers finally left the hand in this shape. I lost my hand's straightness with no mistake of mine. And I am subjected to public sympathy every day which is more tough to bear. And adding spice to injury the Auto d river roams freely and whenever he meets me on road, with a broad grin asks me " cheyee ela undhi sir" (hows your hand)

After this painful chapter  i fought with my life and slowly pulled up the strings to stand strong. But i observed more pathetic cases who suffer silently with no mistake of theirs. I saw people who lost their legs. I saw people who lost their hands. I met families who lost their dear ones . I saw mayhem on roads created by dogs. . Lot of people  are losing limbs hands and lives for mistakes committed by some.

I observed the amount of pain a doctor undergoes in such situations. Apart from medicine and surgery the doctor has to instill confidence and courage to face a new world . And it is not an easy task.

Almost the travelling population have lost the sense of driving. People drive recklessly. They overtake from left. Some travel without paying attention to surroundings. Some indulge in pep talk. Some cross roads abruptly . Some park vehicles in no parking areas. Some turn abruptly.  All these "some" add up to "whole".

Everyday i find a sense of urgency in every ones driving. No one bothers about "safety" Every one wants to get through. All one needs is a gap. A gap to cruise  ahead.  You cannot predict what happens next on Indian roads. This unpredictability  combined with insanity of  "citizens" who break rules create chaos in families who least know that their life is going to change forever.

Why should we allow this to happen?
Cant we stop this nonsense?
And don't blame police. There may be lapses from them. Yet They struggle hard to keep cities in discipline.

If you want to blame blame yourself.  Blame your lethargic non reactant nature for this flood of blood. Since the blood doesn't belong to you you continue with the rest. But "irregularity" has a character. It manifests fast and swallows everyone. Only your time is delayed and there by you are not immune to such brutalities.

Cant we ask a kid who drives recklessly to slow down?
Cant we hand over a alcoholic driver who drives haphazardly on roads  to police?
Cant we ask our co drivers to maintain line discipline ?
CANT WE INSTILL SOME ROAD SENSE IN US AND FOLLOW ROAD RULES?
CANT WE DRIVE SLOW AT JUNCTIONS?
CANT WE WAIT WHEN SOME ONE IS CROSSING THE ROAD?

CANT WE STOP DRIVING ON BAD ROADS AND BRING PRESSURE ON THE AUTHORITIES  TO NOTICE THE PROBLEM?

CANT WE ASK OUR FELLOW RESIDENTS TO TAKE UP THE PROBLEM OF DOGS ON ROADS?
 CANT WE TRY ?

THE ANSWER IS " NO"
BECAUSE WE ARE BUSY
BUSY ORCHESTRATING A FUTURE CHAOS.\

REMEMBER ..,...WE ARE ASSISTING A CRIME....A CRIME BIGGER THAN MURDER.

Dishonouring the law and a brutal crime

Throughout  the nation sea of anger and frustration towards the brutal and heinous crime committed is believed to CHANGE the very scenario of this nation. It seemed the nations nextgen suddenly are in a mood to change an otherwise passive nation. Media rallied for the cause of safety and security where as the prime minister stood at the airport to receive the bereaved. Such was the intensity of the crime that shook a nation.

In fact its the brutality of the crime that shocked threatened and worried the citizens. However this country has a history of forgetting and even this gruesome brutality will be a part of history soon. The symptoms are already showing..

Yet the author of this blog wants to bring out the real culprit behind this brutality.

We the people of this country are very lenient towards law. Law or its machinery for us is a tool to punish criminals And we are not criminals. In our context criminals are those who murder loot rape etc., .  The definition of criminal is very simple here.

Breaking the signal and getting caught is never an offence in this country. Travelling without license is never considered a crime and the nextgen takes pride in travelling without license. Making the very compartments we travel dirty is never a crime at all. Littering in public places is just a right here. You can eat anywhere and throw any where. Copying from other mates is never a serious issue here. Getting different certificates by bribing is a convention here. Travelling in shared autos cars is a day to day scenario. We never take bills for petty goods(groceries) purchased. You can block a public road for a private function yet it cannot be questioned.Purchasing tickets in black is not at all an issue.

Every day we break law knowingly Every hour we go against law willingly. Every minute of our lives is ultravire to various acts. Yet they are never crimes. Its our living style. Its accepted. No punishments.

The girl and the boy are medical students. They very well know the fact either they have to travel by a govt bus or a auto or a taxi. They well knew that the bus was not legally permitted. Yet knowingly they boarded into hell breaking the very laws which ask passengers not to alight illegal transport means . And what resulted was a shameful chapter in this country.

Let us realize laws are made keeping our security and safety in view. Yet we ignore and break them as per our convenience. Its high time we recognize that a small step against law may result in such brutalities.

LET US DO IT. LET ALL OF US BE AWARE OF THE FACT THAT WE GAIN NOTHING BY BREAKING LAWS INTENDED FOR OUR SAFETY AND SECURITY.

US ELECTIONS '''''IS THERE ANY NEED FOR INDIA TO FOLLOW?

Just heard election results of USA  since ten days my friends students and others are singing praises for US election process. it may appear sweet when political leaders appear face to face and debate how their rule would be. on the face front it appears solid electoral process. In many a ways US elections if implemented in India will cause a lot of chaos.

Iam bringing out a detailed phase of US elections. and just think how it will be when induced in India. Look at USA today. one seems to win popular vote and yet lose. Another wins electoral vote without popular support and become president

This was a result of a compromise between those constitutional framers who wanted the Congress to choose the president, and those who preferred a national popular vote.
 I
According to the United States Constitution, a presidential election is to be held once every fourth year. The process of electing a President and Vice-President begins long before Election Day. Candidates from both major and minor political parties and independent candidates begin to raise money and campaign at least one year in advance of the general presidential election. In order to officially represent a political party, a candidate must be nominated by that party.
This primary nomination process is a contest that often produces factions within political parties. These divisions impact the policy stances and agendas of the candidates running for nomination as they attempt to garner the support of party leaders and activists. The nominating process officially begins with the first state primaries and caucuses, which usually occur in the month of February of the election year. It is at these local events that voters are given their first chance to participate in electing the nation’s next President.
There are many factors that influence who will ultimately become the candidate for a party. The public’s perception of the candidates is influenced by such things as media reports, public opinion polls, candidate preference surveys, and advertising. These factors will help determine the perceived strengths and weaknesses of the candidates in the months leading up to the caucuses and primaries.
The spring of an election year is characterized by vigorous campaigning for primaries and caucuses all over the nation. This process reaches its crescendo at the national conventions of the political parties. Once at the national party conventions, the delegates from the states cast votes for the person who will represent the political party in the November general election. In order to secure a party’s nomination, a candidate must receive a majority of the votes from the delegates. It is not unusual for delegates to vote several times before one candidate secures the majority of the votes and officially becomes that party’s candidate for the election to determine the next President of the United States. The candidate for President then must choose a vice-presidential candidate. Generally, a running mate is chosen that will in some way balance the party’s ticket for the general election. This balance may be geographic (choosing a running mate that is very popular in one region where the Presidential candidate is not) or ideological (choosing a running mate with a different ideological framework than the presidential candidate), and the balance is intended to make the overall general election ticket of a political party acceptable to as wide a range of voters as possible.
If a President is running for re-election, this nomination process must be completed. Even if the President does not face any opposition from within his own political party, the national convention will still occur. The conventions are extravaganzas, full of pageantry and showmanship. They serve to help jump start the general election campaign for the presidential candidates.
II
The national conventions of the political parties are the culmination of the primary election process. Once the national conventions have been held, and the candidates from the political parties have been nominated and chosen, the presidential election begins in earnest as a contest between the candidates from the political parties. Any divisions or factions that have surfaced within a political party up to the nomination process tend to be set aside and the entire party becomes unified behind its candidate and begins to work to get that person elected.
Some people choose to run for president without being affiliated with a political party. Such independent candidates need not concern themselves with getting nominated by a party, but must meet other requirements. For example, such candidates are required to collect a large number of signatures to support their nominations. The sources of funding used by independent candidates comes from personal funds and loans as well as fundraising campaigns.
An independent candidate for President must file a declaration of candidacy and a certification of the candidate's selection for vice president with the secretary of state prior to circulation of the candidate's nominating petitions. The candidate and the candidate's selection for vice president must sign the certification before it is filed. No petition or certificate of nomination may be circulated prior to the first day of January of the year in which the election will be held. Once the required number of signatures is received by the person, s/he is able to run in the general election.
The candidates campaign right up until Election Day, when the nation finally votes for its President. The candidates travel throughout the country, making public appearance and giving speeches. The parties and the candidates use media advertising, direct mailings, telephone campaigns, and other means to persuade the voters to choose one candidate over the other(s). Often, these measures also serve to point out the weaknesses of the candidates from the other parties involved in the general election.
In this national presidential election, every citizen of legal age (who has taken the steps necessary in his/her state to meet the voting requirements, such as registering to vote) has an opportunity to vote. However, the President is not chosen by direct popular vote. The Constitution requires that a process known as the Electoral College ultimately decides who will win the general election.
 III
The Electoral College is a method of indirect popular election of the President of the United States. The authors of the Constitution put this system in place so that careful and calm deliberation would lead to the selection of the best-qualified candidate. Voters in each state actually cast a vote for a block of electors who are pledged to vote for a particular candidate. These electors, in turn, vote for the presidential candidate. Each state is apportioned a number of electors equal to the total number of their Congressional delegation.
After Election Day, on the first Monday after the second Wednesday in December( this is now changed) , these electors assemble in their state capitals, cast their ballots, and officially select the next President of the United States. Legally, the electors may vote for someone other than the candidate for whom they were pledged to vote. This phenomenon is known as the "unfaithful" or "faithless" elector. Generally, this does not happen. Therefore, the candidate who receives the most votes in a state at the general election will be the candidate for whom the electors later cast their votes. Two votes are taken, one for President and one for Vice President. Electors are restricted from voting for two candidates from their state. The candidate who wins in a state is awarded all of that state’s Electoral College votes, except in Maine and Nebraska where the electoral may be split.
The votes of the electors are then sent to Congress where the President of the Senate opens the certificates, and counts the votes. This takes place on January 6, unless that date falls on a Sunday(dates are subject to change). In that case, the votes are counted on the next day. An absolute majority is necessary to prevail in the presidential and the vice presidential elections, that is, half the total plus one electoral votes are required. With 538 Electors, a candidate must receive at least 270 votes to be elected to the office of President or Vice President.
OTHER IMPORTANT INFO:

PRIMARIES/CAUCUS:

The series of presidential primary elections and caucuses held in each U.S. state and territory is part of the nominating process of United States presidential elections. This process was never included in the United States Constitution, and thus was created over time by the political parties. Some states only hold primary elections, some only hold caucuses, and others use a combination of both. These primaries and caucuses are staggered between January and June before the general election in November. The primary elections are run by state and local governments, while caucuses are private events that are directly run by the political parties themselves. A state's primary election or caucus usually is an indirect election: instead of voters directly selecting a particular person running for President, it determines how many delegates each party's national convention will receive from their respective state. These delegates then in turn select their party's presidential nominee
THE POPULAR VOTE:
Under the United States Constitution, the manner of choosing electors for the Electoral College is determined by each state's legislature. Although each state currently designates electors by popular vote, other methods are allowed. For instance, a number of states formerly chose presidential electors by a vote of the state legislature itself.
THOSE WHO DON'T VOTE:
Because U.S. territories are not represented in the Electoral College, U.S. citizens in those areas do not vote in the general election for President. Guam has held straw polls(TO  VOTE with nonbinding results) for president since the 1980 election to draw attention to this fact

THE PARADOX :
it is possible for a candidate to not get a single person's vote -- not one -- in 39 states or the District of Columbia, yet be elected president by wining the popular vote in just 11 of these 12 states:California-New York-Texas-Florida-Pennsylvania-Illinois-Ohio-Michigan-New Jersey-North Carolina-Georgia-Virginia
There are 538 total votes in the Electoral College and a presidential candidate must win a majority -- 270 -- electoral votes to be elected. Since 11 of the 12 states in the chart above account for exactly 270 votes, a candidate could win these states, lose the other 39, and still be elected.
Of course, a candidate popular enough to win California or New York will almost certainly win some smaller states, as well.. But, when you play with popularity and numbers, anything can happen. And has.
Has it Ever Happened?
Has a presidential candidate ever lost the nationwide popular vote but been elected president in the Electoral College? Yes, three times:

  • In 1876 there were a total of 369 electoral votes available with 185 needed to win. Republican Rutherford B. Hayes, with 4,036,298 popular votes won 185 electoral votes. His main opponent, Democrat Samuel J. Tilden, won the popular vote with 4,300,590 votes, but won only 184 electoral votes. Hayes was elected president.
  • In 1888 there were a total of 401 electoral votes available with 201 needed to win. Republican Benjamin Harrison, with 5,439,853 popular votes won 233 electoral votes. His main opponent, Democrat Grover Cleveland, won the popular vote with 5,540,309 votes, but won only 168 electoral votes. Harrison was elected president.
  • In 2000 there were a total of 538 electoral votes available with 270 needed to win. Republican George W. Bush, with 50,456,002 popular votes won 271 electoral votes. His Democratic opponent, Al Gore, won the popular vote with 50,999,897 votes, but won only 266 electoral votes. Bush was elected president

    CONFESSION

I always maintained we should never ill maintain our roads parks as well as other infrastructure. Such was the agony that i used to shout if any one threw garbage on roads. Even i highlighted the way vikranth made his family carry the waste till a waste basket is found.

Previous week i myself in the car with jagadeesh after eating corn threw the remains on road and tried to justify my actions. It surprised jagadeesh who is very sincere to this blogs advice. Out of affection and respect he could not comment on me but I READ HIS EYES

However ANY JUSTIFICATION IS ONLY A CLOAK TO COVER A WRONGDOING. HENCE I ADMIT ITS A FAULT AND PARTICULARLY I SET A BAD EXAMPLE TO MY STUDENTS .

THAT DAY IT HAPPENED. IT WILL NEVER BE REPEATED

WHO REALLY IS TO BE BLAMED

Its very tragic and horrific  to see a teenage girl's dignity violated to the maximum on the roads. Its a shameful    act which needs immediate judicial attention. The accused should be tried and sentenced in a way to set an example for the future.

The moral state of this country is hitting an all time low is not a new thing and it amuses me to see people wearing the "disgraceful look" at the happening. Whats more surprising is media's tears about the tragedy. Is this a new thing that's happening in this holy land? No.Its one in the million that suddenly got an immediate attention- thanks to the man who filmed to see to that the crime happen and evidence is preserved. The onlookers are busy with accounts of adventure and the girls plight in the tragic hour.

This writer wants to address the grave lapses in the entire chaos.

THE FACTS: As per the TV and news paper reports there was a birthday party in a bar given by the victim's friends. There developed a quarrel between the friends over the bill. The bar manager whisked away the "TEENAGERS" from the bar. The quarrel between the friends continued on the roads. And slowly a mob approached and the incident slowly assumed alarming proportions with the friends running away leaving the girl (victim) alone. And then the shameful atrocity happened.

WITHOUT ANY DOUBT THE MOB SHOULD BE CAUGHT AND PUNISHED SEVERELY.

How ever I want stern punishment to three other  groups in this connection.

    THE FIRST GROUP:
    The Government......

Whats the minimum age of a girl to be let into a bar?
How a state licensed bar allowed teenagers(that too school going) into the bar?
Is the government of the view that there's no harm in a teenager celebrating a birthday party in a pub?

    THE SECOND GROUP
The Media and the public .....

Is the media ignoring the very fact that the girl is in a pub?
Why the issue of teenagers permitted into pub is marginalized?
Is there no urgency in addressing this "Trivial issue"?
Whats the role of other friends in this entire disaster?
How can we support the argument of the journo that he is recording for evidence?
And why we share when our sympathies and concern when we cannot extend a helping hand in the need of the hour?

    THE THIRD GROUP
           The Parents.............
How come a parent of a sixteen year old allow their daughter to such a party?
What kind of grooming is this?
Is this mindlessness a new type of parenting?
Are the parents aware of the party?

I don't understand whats happening. Answers remain elusive and this is really the darkest hour of the country with the notion of freedom changing every second. The goons should be punished.

but what about the people very much responsible in the same way?

    vikranth does it

My student vikranth like all my students has a lot of concern for the society. He has been to beach two weeks ago with his family and friends. He wanted to throw the waste material like covers of food etc., in a waste bin but no bin was found near. As his relatives were ready to dispose the waste on the road he stopped them, made them carry it and saw to that the waste reached its destiny.

question of the day: can you do the same......can you make others.....dont say no. If vikranth can we also can.

This applies to a lot of our day to day activities.

The big question is CAN YOU?

    start at home

are you truthful to your kids......this is a question to parents
are you truthful to your parents......this is a question to students

myself and my brother had an agreement long before we married. not to lie before kids. not to be corrupt before kids. not to talk bad of anyone before kids. should not ask kids to lie for us. ......many which i think both practice it to fullest.

this is where cleansing should start.
this is the area we should be concentrating
making clean citizens for a clean society
this is how we can show our gratitude to the country which made us realize our dreams
